First Round of CAP Community Certification Announced

They hit the 10,000 Milestone of Registered Members. Congratulations to them for reaching this all time high!

IRVINE, CA – March 5, 2010 – Casino Affiliate Programs (CasinoAffiliatePrograms.com), the world's longest-running resource for the online casino and Internet poker affiliate marketing industry, has announced the results of its first round of CAP Community Certification voting.

Launched on February 1, CAP Community Certification is the site's new affiliate-driven certification program designed to let its community of 10,000 members have more direct control over the reputation and status of CAP's roster of listed online gambling affiliate marketing partners.

As of March 1, the CAP Listed Programs EGO, Expekt, DoylesRoom, and Mainstreet Affiliates were all approved by the affiliate marketing community at Casino Affiliate Programs and are now officially CAP Community Certified. These online gaming affiliate programs will receive an exclusive seal to display on their websites, and will also be rewarded with a separate highlight on the CasinoAffiliatePrograms.com site.

"To achieve this level of approval from the CAP community, these affiliate programs had to receive positive voting results of at least eighty percent," explains Warren Jolly, CEO of CasinoAffiliatePrograms.com. "We're pleased to announce that these four CAP Listed Programs all successfully achieved that goal, with flying colors — many of them easily exceeding the 80 percent threshold in the process.

"Just as importantly, we're excited that this first round of voting for the CAP Community Certification process yielded not only largely positive results for those programs up for consideration, but also an impressive level of participation from the CAP community. We're happy to have this new process affirmed and endorsed by so many affiliates, who are the heart and soul of our industry."

"On behalf of everyone at DoylesRoomAffiliates.com, I'd like to thank the CAP community for all the support we've received," commented Marcela Jarquin, Account Manager for DoylesRoom. "We are continuously working to offer the best service and the most innovative marketing tools to all affiliates. The feedback we get from everyone is priceless and it motivates us to continue to enhance our program."

"We are thrilled to earn a 96.88% approval rate via the CAP Community Certification initiative," added Jason Carter of Mainstreet Affiliates. "This once again proves that Mainstreet Affiliates is well respected and trusted among online gaming affiliates."

The results for the new CAP Community Certification process synced up with the site's announcement that it now has 10,000 registered affiliate program members, affirming it as not only the longest-running but also the largest online gambling affiliate marketing resource on the Internet.

iGB Affiliate Award Winners

The winners have been revealed!! Congratulations to all the winners and best wishes for the next one! I know that every one worked very hard and not all could be winners, but in my book you are all winners.

11 February 2010 (London, UK): The iGB Affiliate Awards (previously the CAP Awards) have always been the highlight of the London Affiliate Conference (LAC). A night full of surprises, with an attendance list that reads as a who’s who of the Affiliate industry, this glittering five star affair opened its door to 540 guests on the 28th January 2010 at the Grange St Paul’s Hotel. Highlights included a star co-host in Phil ‘The Unabomber’ Laak, elite entertainment, an incredible charity donation and, of course, 23 ultimate winners. All these were set against a backdrop that celebrated the host city itself: London. The Queen greeted guests in Buckingham palace for champagne and then guests were seated, looking upon famous London landmarks, to a three course dinner worthy of the decision makers in the room.

“The night was a huge success and the winners truly deserve their place on the big screen.” Alex Pratt, Head of iGaming Business and iGB Affiliate stated “It’s the best way we know how to reward the amount of effort and dedication every affiliate and affiliate manager put into their campaigns and work throughout the year. And best of all this is voted and judged by industry peers – the best validation you can get.”

The night saw many newcomers rise to the occasion; Ladbrokes took the sweepstake in Bingo for best affiliate program and affiliate manager, Bet365 took Best Sportsbook and Overall Affiliate Program award home, and Income Access dominated the ‘Non-Traditional iGaming’ categories. There were also many noteworthy Affiliate winners such Pokerstrategy.com and Bingobase.com, but it was Pokerisivut.com who took the gold by winning the much coveted Best Overall Affiliate. However it wasn’t all about newcomers, long-established award winners fought hard to keep their place at the top, proving that the more you win, the more you want to keep on winning. Poker Star won three awards, and Microgaming, NETELLER, Reward Affiliates and Betbrain are still the unbeaten champions in their categories. But perhaps the biggest winners was a completely non-gaming related company; Oxfam.

“A big congratulations to all the winners and a special thank you and congratulations to everyone who donated so generously for the Haiti cause and Oxfam.” Marit von Stedingk, Event Manager of the iGB Awards declared, “We raised a total of £65,000, which will be doubled to £130,000 by the CalvinAyre Foundation, and this could not have been done without the generosity the whole iGaming industry - no business beats this market for being able to mix fun, work and true professionalism so simultaneously. On which subject, we are missing a few Tube Signs centrepieces – if they get back to me in one piece I promise not to ask any questions!”

The full list of winners can be found on www.igbaffiliateawards.com and keep a lookout for any updates on future developments regarding next years evening. Rumours have it that a re-design is in the works, but no more has been revealed.

Why you do not want to Miss an iGaming Affiliate Conference

For all of you affiliates that miss a conference, here is what you will be missing!

Here is what one said about them:

I enjoy all the conferences that I get to attend with Dave, and will manage to get to 2 or 3 each year. The first conference to start the year off has been the London Affiliate Conference (LAC) held at the Old Billingsgate Market, which we have just got back from.

What I love about iGaming conferences is the “glitz and glam” that the merchants, operators, players and super affiliates bring with them. The affiliate conferences are something that we started going to when A4U and the Casino Affiliate Conference first asked Dave to speak back in 2008. Last year we went to AAC in Amsterdam and BAC in Budapest which were great events.

The venue hotel for the London Affiliate Conference was the Grange St Pauls Hotel which is a new and stunning building. The standard of the hotel was very high, but I think they struggled with the volume of people heading to breakfast and needing serving at the bar on the evening. Here’s a picture of the view from the 3rd floor of the dining area and lounge below, as well as the Lamborghini that was parked in the lobby.

Read the whole story and see the pictures here.

iGB Affiliate Awards Announces Star Presenter

Look for some party crashers too, like Phil Laak, Antonio Esfandiari and more This should be fun for everyone!

21 January 2010 ( London , UK ) – After months of speculation as to the identity of the star co-host at the iGB Affiliate Awards, it has finally been revealed that this is none other than Phil ‘The Unabomber’ Laak. The notorious gambler shot to fame at the World Poker Tour Championship in 2004 and has since dominated countless tournaments, having made his name as a ‘loose cannon’ on the poker table, and as a winning personality off it. This and his recent endeavours in the world of online Gambling, through the launch this month of UnabomberPoker.com via the Cake Network, makes him the perfect co-host for a night celebrating the best in online gaming.

“Phil Laak is legendary for knowing how to have a good time and I’m sure we’ll create some great and entertaining chemistry on stage”, Michael Caselli, Editor of iGaming Business and principal host for the nights frivolities asserted. “With the launch of his new site he is sure to become a welcome staple in the world of online gambling and this is the perfect way to introduce him to the movers and shakers of this industry.”

The Unabomber, never one for doing things halfway, is not coming alone however, bringing with him some other recognizable figures, such as Dan Fleishman and Andrew Robl both rising stars in the professional Poker Circuit. However his most anticipated guest is none other than his partner-in-crime, friend and opponent Antonio Esfandiari. The debonair ‘magician’ is renowned for his sleight of hand and impressive card skills, which won him his first World Series of Poker bracelet in 2004. The night’s event will have to be closely watched to see if Antonio has any aces up his sleeves.

Phil Laak will have quite the audience on the night, impressing his peers, but perhaps unaware that a couple of superstars will be watching from the wings, namely the Godfather and the Prince of Poker. Doyle Brunson will be there representing his online brands DoylesRoom.com and DoylesCasino.com, whilst Scotty Nguyen as brand ambassador for Expekt.com will no doubt live up to his hell-raising reputation. Unbelievably these bands of merry poker playing men have amassed over an astonishing $22.7 million between them in tournament winnings.

The event organisers, iGB Affiliate, must be stunned by the spectacular support the 3rd Annual iGB Affiliate Awards seem to be attracting, are there any gaming personalities that aren’t attending this glamorous bash? The evening, to be held at the Grange St Paul’s Hotel on Thursday 28th January, will certainly be awash with the igaming elite.

Legendary Texas Dolly Returns

Doyle Brunson will be attending the London Affiliate 2010 Conference!

12 January 2010 (London UK) – Doyle Brunson made an exciting announcement earlier today by confirming his attendance at the now renowned London Affiliate Conference (LAC), to be held at Old Billingsgate between 29th-31st January. Following the anticipation his presence stirred at the Budapest Conference last year, the event organizers iGB Affiliate, greeted this fantastic news with delight.

“Doyle Brunson is a great crowd pleaser and is always hugely popular with affiliates and operators alike”, Alex Pratt, Director of iGB Affiliate commented. “It’s a fantastic bonus to have him return to our event and to know that he not only finds real value in attending but that he equally enjoys the fun aspects of his stay with us.”

The “fun aspects” are no doubt referring to the fact that the Godfather of Poker will be attending the official networking parties as well as making an appearance at the iGB Affiliate Awards this year, which launch LAC on the evening of the 28th at the glamorous Grange St Paul’s Hotel. The real question however, is what value does his presence bring to the affiliates themselves? What can they expect from the great man?

“Doyle is very aware that affiliates are the lifeblood of this industry”, Will Griffiths President of Doylesroom.com and Doylescasino.com explains. “He is here to meet and reward the affiliates, present and future, who will continue to grow Doyle’s online presence to what, is now the most trusted casino and the preeminent poker website for real live game play.”

One of these exclusive rewards, created especially for LAC, is a competition, where the lucky affiliate who generates the most revenue up to 15th January will win two nights at the lavish 5* Dorchester Hotel, a signed autobiography and dinner with Doyle Brunson at the iGB Affiliate Awards. The chance to talk to the poker legend one-on-one for a whole evening is a chance hard to come by and highly coveted by everyone in the industry. However for those not fortunate enough to be in a position to win, it has been leaked that he will also be handing out special signed autobiographies of his exceptional life, at the Doylesroom Stand to all Doylesroom and DoylesCasino Affiliates, in recognition of their hard work for 2010.

“We had a blast at BAC”, the Texas Dolly said. “I fully intent on continuing our success at these events, and maybe even play a few hands of pokers and join in the fun”. To meet the legend, simply go to www.londonaffiliateconference.com and register. If you are an affiliate, then this once in a lifetime chance comes to you completely free. Pending the question what’ you waiting for?

Affiliates of Casino Cubed should make sure to check their mail for final payment arrangements. They closed with no warning what so ever. So make sure you check your emails, and see about getting your final payment.

This is a Quote from Billy Himself!

“I did choose to close CasinoCubed due to a combination of issues, my personal health problems being a dominant one in being able to keep my team focused on delivering a superior service. But of course timing, results, budgets, etc all played a part.

Players with balances have all been notified and we're now sorting out affiliates as well.”

I hope all the affiliates get what they are all supposed to get back from this.

Stay tuned as we get further details if there is any. We wish Billy well with his health!!

New Update on eCOGRA Grand Prive Article

A few days ago, eCogra started a marketing campaign centered on the Grand Prive mess. Grand Prive is the casino operation that closed down it’s operations and left their affiliates out high and dry, with no compensation for their player bases.

For many months, efforts had been underway to get an independent audit of Grand Prive done. Affiliate Guard Dog (AGD) had agreed to oversee the audit while and independent auditor actually did the audit. The auditor of choice to do the audit was being looked into when eCongra made its announcement, thereby sidestepping the whole process. There are a lot of affiliate out there that are not being compensated properly for their customer base being usurped.

Many affiliates have not bothered to complete the clamant form, but are still greatly affected by the actions of Grand Prive. Let’s hope that eCongra does the right thing and protects the rights of all affected affiliates.

Investigation of Grand Prive Affiliates

This was released today by eCogra!

eCOGRA facilitates submission of affiliate claims

London, 7 December 2009 - Following a number of Internet-based allegations concerning payments following the closure of the Grand Privé Affiliate Program on 1 December 2008, eCOGRA's professional services have been engaged by the management of the company.

Pursuant to an independent and fair resolution of the issues involved, eCOGRA has been tasked with:
Independently investigating the manner in which the Program was terminated and the reasons therefore; subsequently compiling a full and transparent report.
Gathering and verifying claims by any affiliate that considers an amount still to be owing by the Program as a result of player wagering activity subsequent to 1 December 2008; and
Carrying out a full and independent review by suitably qualified staff of the program software and data to confirm amounts owing to claimants at 21 December 2009.
eCOGRA is open to all submissions concerning the closure and payments owed, and urges affiliate watchdog organisations in receipt of this email to assist it in order to ensure that respective affiliate members are informed of this opportunity to submit legitimate claims.

Claims can be submitted prior to 21 December 2009 at http://www.ecogra.org/grandprive.aspx. Former Grand Privé affiliates who believe they have a legitimate and verifiable claim will be asked to complete the Claim Submission Form that they will find on this link.

The following information will be required on the Claim Form, and will be treated in strict confidence:

FIRST NAME
LAST NAME
BANNER TAG
EMAIL ADDRESS
WEBSITES
PHYSICAL ADDRESS
TELEPHONE NUMBER
BANKING DETAILS
AMOUNT OF LAST PAYMENT RECEIVED FROM GRAND PRIVÉ
DATE OF LAST PAYMENT RECEIVED
Closing dates for submission of claims is 21 December 2009.

In the interests of transparency, eCOGRA’s findings will be publicly released on conclusion of the investigation.

EU and Cookies

This is something new they are coming up with to mess things up again. I wish they could get someone that knows what they are doing with this kind of stuff.

Earlier this year, Patricia wrote about an EU plan to require that internet users consent to cookies before they're placed on their computers. At the time, I called the plan "absurd".
Which must be precisely why the Council of the EU has approved a directive amending legislation to do just that. The announcement of this potentially horrendous action? Well-hidden in an 18 page Council press release.

The press release states:
The Council adopted a directive amending legislation in force on universal service ePrivacy and consumer protection.

The directive adapts the regulatory framework by strengthening and improving consumer protection and user rights in the electronic communications sector, facilitating access to and use of ecommunications for disabled users and enhancing the protection of individuals’ privacy and personal data (3674/09).
Seems innocuous, but if you read the final text of the legislation, the implications become quite clear:
Third parties may wish to store information on the equipment of a user, or gain access to information already stored, for a number of purposes, ranging from the legitimate (such as certain types of cookies) to those involving unwarranted intrusion into the private sphere (such as spyware or viruses). It is therefore of paramount importance that users be provided with clear and comprehensive information when engaging in any activity which could result in such storage or gaining of access. The methods of providing information and offering the right to refuse should be as user-friendly as possible. Exceptions to the obligation to provide information and offer the right to refuse should be limited to those situations where the technical storage or access is strictly necessary for the legitimate purpose of enabling the use of a specific service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user. Where it is technically possible and effective, in accordance with the relevant provisions of Directive 95/46/EC, the user's consent to processing may be expressed by using the appropriate settings of a browser or other application. The enforcement of these requirements should be made more effective by way of enhanced powers granted to the relevant national authorities.

eCOGRA Affiliate Program Gives Brightshare Accreditation

The Jackpot Factory group has met the affiliate’s highest professional requirements by eCOGRA. That means they have been screened and were found to deserve the ECOGRA Seal of Approval.
London, 9 September 2009 - Brightshare.com, one of the most well-established and successful online gambling affiliate programs, is the third group to receive eCOGRA’s Affiliate Trust seal following rigorous inspection and monitoring by the independent player protection and standards body's professional compliance teams.

BrightShare handles the affiliate marketing activities of the popular Jackpot Factory group, which owns nine online gambling brands including five online casinos featuring Microgaming’s Viper download and Flash instant play software, a multiplayer poker room, an online bingo hall and two mobile casinos.

Like eCOGRA’s accreditation process for gambling site operators, the recently introduced affiliate service provides detailed best practice business standards, backed by a strict inspection and monitoring process. Approved affiliate programs display the eCOGRA Affiliate Trust Seal, marking the holder's success in achieving the required levels of integrity and efficiency.

The standards attached to the seal have been specifically designed for affiliate program operations.

To display the new seal, affiliate programs must demonstrate that their program establishes, enforces and monitors best practice standards. Specifically, they must show that they calculate affiliate revenue accurately and make payments promptly, communicate efficiently and that they have controls in place to accurately link players to affiliates.

Although there are others monitoring affiliate programs, eCOGRA provides the most public, structured and formal on-site approach, ensuring adherence to consistent standards through regular monitoring and full annual reviews carried out by appropriately qualified audit and accounting professionals.

Congratulating BrightShare on achieving accreditation, eCOGRA CEO Andrew Beveridge said his compliance teams had been impressed with the high levels of efficiency encountered during their on-site and in-depth study of BrightShare operations.

He added that the credibility of the Affiliate Trust seal, and the improvement in business that this could deliver had resulted in a growing number of applicants.

"eCOGRA's independent directors are very pleased with the positive response by affiliate programs to this custom-designed addition to our services, which indicates a real desire among the programs to measure themselves against practical international benchmarks through independent audits," he said.

Lloyd Apter, affiliate manager for BrightShare, said that affiliate programs occupied a critically important role in the successful operation of online gambling companies, and that this made professionally defined standards and business processes essential.

"eCOGRA has provided BrightShare with a valuable level of confidence that our program can and does meet the highest industry standards," he said. "The ongoing review and inspection service helps us to maintain those standards for the benefit of our primary customers - the affiliate marketer and the operator."
