I think that it is a wise idea to get to know the games on a site before you put up to much money. I like to go and play some of the games in the free bingo spots that many of the sites have.
This way I get to know the games and the amount of time it usually takes for a game to complete. I also get to know what is available to play. I prefer one line bingo or pattern. I don't care for the blackout as it usually takes a long time to finish a game.
It also lets you get used to where to go to change your options such as dauber color or auto daub features. Some even have auto bingo. A couple of minutes playing a free game can benifit you when you finally make you deposit.

I do the exact same thing moneypenny. I would much rather get a grasp on the game I am trying to play before I deposit any money into it. This way I am sure I know what I am supposed to do and whether I like the game or not before I commit money to it.
