Default Who Invented the dobber?

I know kind of ridiculous isn't it? But back in the old days you use to use winki dinks or cherios or something and the dobber is a god send. No more lost Bingos! So how did the dobber come about?

Well, I'm not sure of the details on the invention of it ~ but I remember when I was kid I took a handful of my grandmother's bingo chips to replace the missing pieces in my Tiddly Winks Game

The answer to the dauber question would be a perfect entry for the contest....

I did google it yesterday with no luck before I posted. But it's been bugging me now so I figured I would check patents and inventions etc... ~ not the ORIGINAL inventor of it but the inventor/patent holder ~

Ink marker bottle
An ink marker bottle suitable for use as a marker for bingo cards comprises an elongated hollow body having a dauber at the top end and having a rectangular cross-sectional shape at the lower end to provide improved stability when the bottle is resting in an upright position. The elongated hollow body includes a central recessed portion that configured for ease of holding by the user.

Agent: John Calabro - Amherst, NY, US
Inventor: John Calabro

I'm still looking for the original inventor and I'll post if I find it :P

I am the queen of google searches

I didn't spend all that much time hunting for it, finding the patent was easy enough finding the original inventor has proved quite difficult! I still haven't found it and it's like one of those things that is stuck in the back of my mind that is bothering me ~ I MUST KNOW!

I'm the same way, but I never thought about checking the patents. I have tried checking patents on other things in the past and for me, it was time consuming, because alot of times the names for a product is usually called something else like terrapin719's example for the dauber, "Ink Marker Bottle".

Who would have thunk it?

Well, I do now know the history of the marker, ink pen, and crayon... which is more than I could have said last week.. Still no dauber.. is it dobber or dauber btw, i tried both..

perhaps it was a fad thing, someone created a homemade version, that caught on for awhile b4 someone actually manufactured it?
