Good question, as far as I have ever known from some research several years ago lol, it started as an Italian game that was called lotto at the time, it then started being played everywhere and was called beano, because they used beans to cover the numbers lol, and ofcourse for years and years it has been bingo. If anyone knows more about it feel free to post. I am sure there should be some info. about it on the net. Bingoooooooooo lol

Default history of bingo

Bingo as we know it today is a form of lottery and is a direct descendant of Lo Giuoco del Lotto d'Italia. When Italy was united in 1530, the Italian National Lottery Lo Giuoco del Lotto d'Italia was organized, and has been held, almost without pause, at weekly intervals to this date. Today the Italian State lottery is indispensable to the government's budget, with a yearly contribution in excess of 75 million dollars.

I know what you mean angelbeth. I'm thinking I need to get my glasses checked. I thought I looked all over. Guess that shows it's a good thing I don't get paid for thinking. Somebody wouldn't be getting their money's worth. But at least it's nice to know, I'm not the only one that missed the link.

Yes, I have always thought bingo was a lot like a lottery, only a bit more quick-paced.

I haven't played a "live" game of Bingo (with cards and pieces) since 1984...I played that aboard the Scandinavian Sun a few hours before the ship caught fire as we were docking at the Port of Miami.

Thats not a good thing, but I guess it could be considered a "hot" game of bingo.

Hey, that's punny!

Actually, the game (I had two cards, which sounds like a rather underwhelming number) took place about two hours before the fire started, at least as far as the published timeline of the incident is concerned. Luckily, the ship was docking at the time that we became aware of anything being wrong, but it was a pretty scary experience.

I bet it was scary. And I am so glad that you all were docking as opposed to being at sea when it happened.
