Default number of balls

Well, I'm not really a newbie, but I sure have the silly questions sometimes.

I have seen places with different numbers of balls.

Is there a rhyme or reason for that?

Bingo actually originated as a lottery and the game has developed and changed and redeveloped over the years. What we know as the standard bingo game was developed in the early 1900's.

There are many different types of Bingos and many game variations. I've played in games that only use the odd or even numbers but I've never seen a game with more than 75 although I'm sure they exist. That would just mean there were that many more numbers I needed to get coverall!!
