Wink Beginning of Bingo

Ever wonder about the beginning of the game called "Bingo"? Well I did so I decided to do a little research. Sit back, relax and enjoy the story about the beginning of Bingo.

Bingo has been dated back to Italy, in the 14th century. Though back then the game was not called Bingo, it was actually called "Beano".

For some entertainment the wealthy of France played the game in the 1800's. Germany also adopted the game a short time later but was used for the purpose of education.

Then in the early 1900's the game made its way to North America, where by some mistake it was renamed "BINGO". Before the game was accidently renamed Bingo, it was mostly played at country fairs. Dealers or callers would hold a container, often shaped like a cigare box which was filled with small discs which were numbered. As the dealer or caller would yell out a number those playing would cover the numbers on their cards with the use of beans. When someone won a game they would yell out "BEANO" for all to hear.

The two people who are responsible for the name of the game Beano being changed to Bingo were Carl Leffler and Edwin Lowe. These two men redesigned the game. Once the task of redesigning was completed the game contained more than 5000 various card combinations.

Then by the 1940's more than 20,000 games were being played a week around the world.
Millions of people today still play the wonderful game of Bingo. In very few churches and bingo halls you will still find the old cardboard cards and the use of beans or even corn kernnals which are used to cover the numbers. Though for the most part now days the use of paper sheet cards along with ink daubers to cover the numbers are more popular.

The World Wide Web has caused and explosion in the bingo world of today. More than $100,000,000.00 cash and rewards have been won in the last 10 years.

and now that my story is done, I leave you with this simple message, online bingo is just a few clicks away with the use of a mouse and computer. All that money just waits for you or myself to win. Now I only have one thing left to say......RACE YA THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am also amazed at how such a simple games has gone from being played only by the rich to almost everyone. I know that more and more people are starting to play the game every day. The popularity of this game is only going to continue to grow as time passes. Its just to much fun and is a great way to relax.
