    Dutch Government Regulating Online Gambling?

    It seems the Dutch government is having a hard time with what to do with online gambling and has now, again it seems, flop stances. The Government has done a lot over the years to keep online gambling out. They made a blacklist of foreign online gambling sites (2008) and then told banks to not do business with them for fear of being prosecuted; the Dutch version of the U.S. UIGEA. They have also spent a lot of time in European Court fighting to keep online gambling out.

    PokerStars folds its cards in Washington State

    Sportingbet PLC to Forfeit $33 million to Settle U.S. Online Gambling Charge

    UK Internet gambling company Sportingbet Plc agreed today to forfeit $33 million that it provided to US customers in a deal that they hope will allow the company to resume U.S. online gambling operations sometime in the future if the laws are changed. According to a statement made by Sportingbet as part of this agreement with New York, the company offered online gambling to U.S. residents from 1996 to Oct. 2006.

    Online Poker Affected After California State Sen. Wright Indicted?

    What a difference a week makes.  California State Senator Roderick Wright (D- Inglewood) seemed to be a light for legalized online poker in the state has now been indicted by a grand jury on eight counts including filing a false declaration of candidacy, voter fraud and perjury beginning back in 2007. If convicted, Wright faces up to eight years and four months in state prison. He pleaded not guilty and was released after posting bail of $45,000. His next court date is October 8th.

    Goldwater Bank To Forfeit $734,000 in Online Gambling Case

    Today the bank Ahmad Khawaja and his two firms Allied Systems and Allied Wallet reportedly used to transfer funds to players online poker sites, as agree to forfeit assets. Goldwater Bank, a one branch bank located in Scottsdale Arizona as agreed to forfeit $734,000 that have been tied to money laundering and illegal online gambling operations according to the FBI.
