    Atlantic City Casinos Reject Intrastate Online Gambling

    Everything was looking rosy for online gambling in New Jersey after the June 3 3-1 vote by the Senate State Government, Wagering, Tourism & Historic Preservation Committee to pass Senate bill S490 with very few amendments.Now, the very casinos that would most benefit from that very law, have announced through the Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ), their trade organization, that they do not want the bill to pass. CANJ represents all eleven Atlantic City casinos.

    Calls For Change in EU Gambling Laws

    A very loud call has been made for the overhaul of the EU gambling laws after the EU Court of Justice (ECJ) ruled in a case that the Netherlands could block a bookmaker and a betting exchange from offering bets to Dutch citizens. The court ruled that the Netherlands could block Ladbrokes and Betfair  from offering bets if their purpose was to combat “fraud and crime”.Both companies stated that they believe the real reason behind the ruling was to maintain DeLotto’s state licensed monopoly.

    Today the government of France approved a new online gambling bill. The bill passed the French parliament by a narrow 299-233 vote. The French will grant only 30 licenses to operate online casinos and poker rooms within its borders.
