Will New Slots Boost Revenue in Oregon?

The state of Oregon has installed over 400 new slot machines in the bars all around town. This will be only the start of over 2000 being installed. They are hoping this will help the downturn of the revenue trend.
The Lottery Director Dale Penn, stated “We’re real hopeful that we can bring some players back and encourage others to play more,” He told this to the Associated Press.
Oregon Lottery Spokeswoman Mary Loftin said, “The gambling industry as a whole for years was thought to be recession proof, but this recession has changed that view,” Across the country, lottery sales are down.”
Both the Casinos in Vegas and Atlantic City have taken a big hit in this recession, in which the revenue fell in the double digits for last two months. The bars in Oregon thinks that the smoking ban took a huge part in this recession, and that since the reservations Indian casinos do not have to abide by the state’s law has taken a lot of their customers
