Michelle Orpe has shown that poker is not just a man’s game! She along with a few others has shown her talent and skill at the game of poker! Keep it up Michelle!!

Purple-Lounge.com rising star and sponsored player Michelle Orpe has more than repaid her sponsor’s faith by reaching the final table and shining in only her second sponsored event. Purple Lounge, the world’s leading luxury online poker room and casino, took the decision to sponsor Michelle Orpe having witnessed her skills at the table and as a compliment to the growing base of serious female players at their award winning poker site. Michelle took the 10th spot at the European Ladies Championship on May 4th, outlasting a strong field which included amoung others WSOP Europe winner Annette Obrestad, Louise Duffy, Shelly Rubenstein and the Ladbrokes sponsored players Katherine Hartree and Abi Titmuss.
London, UK May 8, 2008 — Rising Star and Purple Lounge, sponsored player Michelle Orpe has taken another step in her professional poker career by reaching the final table and cashing in one of the most prestigious women only tournaments in Europe. Well known as a presenter on Sky Poker, Michelle reached the final table of the European Ladies Poker Championship in London on May 4th. At stake was a guaranteed Prizepool of $100,000 and a top prize of $30,000. A strong field of experienced professionals failed to faze Michelle and she outlasted among others: WSOP Europe winner Annette Obrestad to reach the final table and cash at only her 2nd sponsored event.
Michelle Orpe at Purple Lounge
At the end of the first day I was seriously short stacked and figured I didn’t want to return to the 2nd day with nothing so I starting to push all in constantly with 20 minutes of play left, do or die I say. Then there was a pause and they finished a few minutes early, I was gutted because I wanted to do my all in plan. BUT the good news was that I had made the cash
Michelle’s game started well “The first couple of hours of play were excellent, I was very lucky to have a landed a passive table so I could become the table ‘Champ’ if you like and steal every pot”. A lot of players started to get knocked out. Michelle noticed that a lot of the women were really scared of Annette and that she took advantage of it by constantly stealing and had accumulated a large stack pretty early on. Unfortunately she ended up busting out early with 64 suited against JJ.

“I am a newly sponsored player at Purple Lounge and this is only my 2nd tournament, to cash at all is amazing and a great achievement. Liv Boeree went on to win it. She found KK against JJ just before I went out and doubled through so was in great shape but this event has given me the confidence to realise that I can do even better at events to come” says Michelle Orpe . Michelle was knocked out by Jacqui Terry who has worked with Purple Lounge on all their live events over the past 3 years. Although Michelle was very disappointed to have come so far and not win the entire tournament, who better to have knocked her out other than Michelle’s and Purple Lounges long-time friend Jacqui Terry. “At the end of the first day I was seriously short stacked and figured I didn’t want to return to the 2nd day with nothing so I starting to push all in constantly with 20 minutes of play left, do or die I say. Then there was a pause and they finished a few minutes early, I was gutted because I wanted to do my all in plan. BUT the good news was that I had made the cash”. The event will be broadcast in six, one-hour shows during the late summer on Sky Sports in the United Kingdom.
The tournament puts Michelle Orpe in a great frame of mind going into her next event, representing Purple Lounge at the World Poker Showdown(WPS) event at the fabulous Ocean World resort in the Dominican Republic which begins on May 9th and leads into her first WSOP (World Series of Poker) event in July.
With confidence brimming over and the poker skills to match we’re sure that this star is likely to shine for a long time to come.

Move over guys, the woman are being heard..LOL! Thank You Purple Lounge for having these tourneys. Keep it up, we look forward to seeing more of these winners!

This just may be the start of something good, with poker fans. Does it mean that poker is a game of skill? To me it has always been a skill game. Hopefully the rest of the world will too!

Everest Poker and Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc. have signed a multi-year agreement that includes satellite tournament rights and strategic brand placement at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. The agreement ensures that the strongest, largest and most successful European field will be represented at the iconic Las Vegas poker tournament.

Montreal, QC (PRWEB) March 5, 2008 — Everest Poker has signed a major agreement with Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc. that includes satellite rights and brand placement on all of the table-top felts at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, and for the first time, the inner rung of the WSOP feature table.

Last year’s WSOP saw a total prize pool in excess of $159,796,918, more than 54,000 player registrations and a net prize pool for the Main Event reaching $59,784,954.

With this new agreement, Everest Poker’s brand will reach an estimated global audience of 200 million. Additionally, the new alliance enables Everest Poker to provide its largely European player base with more opportunities to play in a WSOP event in Las Vegas.

With official satellite rights, Everest Poker will offer European poker fans the chance to win seats and compete for the biggest single cash prize in international sport.

Players can even choose which events they want to attend, a feature designed to appeal to pros and amateurs alike.

Jennifer Joyce, Everest Poker’s VP of Marketing, commented: “We are thrilled with this deal, as it will allow us to leverage our access to the WSOP to give our European players the best chance possible to compete at — and win — WSOP events in Las Vegas. We have always strived to make poker as accessible as possible to everybody, not just the elite few. The WSOP is the true global standard for poker giving pros a chance at history and amateur players the chance to fulfill their dream by rubbing shoulders with the legends. Our goal is to see a European win the Main Event.”

Ty Stewart, World Series of Poker Director of Marketing, Sponsorship and Licensing, “We’re excited to welcome Everest Poker to the World Series of Poker family. Through this agreement, Everest Poker is now literally in the center of the poker universe. Through presence on all tables, their brand will be connected to every historic moment at the WSOP. This alliance further demonstrates the globalization of poker and the industry behind it.
