Starting March 4th, Caesars Atlantic City will be kicking off another WSOP (World Series of Poker) Circuit Event. With 11 events and millions of dollars up for grabs, this will be the place to play during this 11 day marathon of poker.
The Main Event is scheduled for March 12th and runs for 3 days. Events #8 (Turbo NLHE), #10 (Turbo NLHE) and #11 (Ladies NLHE) are 1-day events and the rest are 2 day events.
Buy-Ins for this Circuit Event range from $230 for the Turbo & Ladies events, all the way up to $5,150 for the main event. If you don’t want to spend $5,150 to buy a seat for the main event, don’t worry – Caesars will be running single & multi-table satellites every day which start as low as $65!
Personally, I can’t wait. I’ve had my room reservation at Caesars for over a month now (March 3-6) and will be playing in a couple of $340 events as well as taking in the side games, which should be pretty juicy! I’m just lucky that I only have to drive 2 hours to get there.
If anyone’s reading this that is planning to head down to Caesars for this WSOP Circuit Event, feel free to email me – beaston (at) gmail.com; maybe we can hook up!
See you there…

North Carolina Judge Tossed Out Ban On Video Poker Machines

In North Carolina today Judge Manning tossed out the ban on video poker machines. These machines were taken out of all places in North Carolina when the UIGEA Bill was passed in 2006.
RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina can’t legally ban video poker machines while also allowing the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians to operate the games on their lands within the state, a state court judge ruled late Thursday.
The ruling issued by Wake County Superior Court Judge Howard Manning overturns the 2006 law that ended the state’s 13-year experiment with video poker machines, a popular attraction when legal in bars and convenience stores.
The ruling won’t lead to the immediate return of the machines, since Manning also issued a stay of his order to give the state time to file an expected appeal.

Could this lead to helping the online video poker casinos? It is at least a start in the right direction. If they are allowed in bars and other places, then they will surely be allowed to play online.
Judge in South Carolina Rules Poker is a Skill Game

Looks like South Carolina is following some other states by ruling Texas Hold’em Poker is a game of skill. This ruling stops the police from incarcerating people that play a a game of poker.
Judge Larry Duffy, Mount Pleasant judge stated and wrote that there is “overwhelming” evidence that the game is not a chance game but one of skill.
Even though this may not help the ones that were arrested three years ago, or the five recently that are paying fines, but will stop it from happening again in the future.
This is a step in the right direction for the people who love to play poker. This followed the same ruling in Pennsylvania last month. Maybe other states will take heed and find that poker is a game of skill! Good news for the industry!
