    This just may be the start of something good, with poker fans. Does it mean that poker is a game of skill? To me it has always been a skill game. Hopefully the rest of the world will too! Everest Poker and Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc. have signed a multi-year agreement that includes satellite tournament rights and strategic brand placement at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

    Tusk Investment (Action Casinos) in Liquidation

    Back in February we told you about Action Casinos, by Tusk Investment were folding. And that Casino Rewards were acquiring them, and will reopen for business soon as things are settled.     Europe’s World Series of Poker 2008, Dates

    Officially announced, by Harrah’s Entertainment, the second annual Poker World Series dates and locations is out. The dates will be from September 19th to October 1st 2008. It will be held in the same three locations as last year. The specific dates for the event are still being worked on at this time. The returning Champion Annette_15 will be there to defend her title. Winning a sum of $2,013,102 was the largest to ever be won by a woman!!

    Ottawa and Online Gaming

    The government of Canada is now trying to stop Internet Gambling on the Kahnawake Indian Reserve. They say there are over 400 or more poker and sports betting sites operating out of the Reserve near Montreal, is illegal. Looks like Canada is trying to mimic America!! The Mohawks of Kahnawake say these laws do not apply to them since they are a sovereign nation. Gaming has been the center to their culture as a means of settling deputes through competition, not violence.

    Lobbying by Poker Groups

    The Poker Players Alliance (AP)spent $900,000 in 2007 lobbying for the federal government on online- gambling legislation. This group says it represents 800,000 poker enthusiasts nationwide. They lobbied on a bill that would exempt poker from a law that restricts online gambling. Also for legislation that would regulate the Internet gaming industry. The alliance spent $780,000 lobbying on those issues in the second half of 2007.

    Hearing Date On Internet Glambling

    Washington lawyer, Lee Rousso, will have his day in court soon. He recently filed suit against the State of Washington on the grounds that the state’s online gaming laws is in violation the Commerce Clause of the US constitution. Reporting by Pokerlistings is that Rousso’s case has been assigned a court date of September 21st. Washington has arguably the strictest state laws regarding online gaming in the United States.
