    Full Tilt Poker Announces FTOPS XVIII Series Details

    Four years ago, FTOPS (Full Tilt Online Poker Series) came onto the scene with eight events and a prize pool of around a $1,000,000. Not a bad start, you might say. With the upcoming November FTOPS XVIII tournament boasting an astounding 34 events and over $19,000,000 in guaranteed prize money, you also might say that’s not a bad finish. At least you would, if Full Tilt had any intention of stopping (which, of course, they don’t).

    PokerStars folds its cards in Washington State

    As we noted in last week’s Gambling News blog, the state of Washington upheld that it’s ban on Internet gambling is not unconstitutional. Now, just a few days later, PokerStars announced that it will no longer be accepting real money players from the Evergreen State, stating on its PokerStars News blog, “We regret this decision, which will no doubt disappoint our customers in Washington State.

    PokerStars 50 Billionth Hand Won

    Many people may scoff at the $.02-$.04 NL Holdem tables but not anymore.  Think the micro tables don’t pay off? Ask tbvle who plays at PokerStars and you may get a different opinion. Wednesday, Sept. 22nd, tbvle was involved in a hand at the PokerStars NL micro table. Well, not just any hand, the 50 billionth hand.  The month long promotion at PokerStars was about to pay off and tbvle not only held off 5 opponents for the $26 pot but also walked away with $56,140.

    Free U.S. Friendly WSOP Online Poker Site

    A free online poker site really isn’t that big news. A Harrah’s free online poker site with a WSOP theme is however. Though the site has been up and running now for over a month, Harrah’s has now up the advertising campaign and is now heavily promoting its latest online project. It has been in the USA Today but now you will see commercials for the new site on ESPN’s coverage of the 2010 World Series of Poker broadcasts.

    Eight Chosen for Brunson 10 Pro Poker Team

    The Brunson 10 is rounding into shape as David “Doc” Sands finishes a top the Become a Legend Leaderboard to take the 8th spot on the team. After earning the most points at the 2010 World Series of Poker tournament, David joins seven other online poker phenom’s that already qualified for the team. Sand’s cashed in five separate WSOP events this year winning a total of $88,000 and toping the leaderboard with 2,269.10 points.

    $8.94 million to 2010 WSOP Winner

    The winner of the 2010 World Series of Poker is…well, that has yet to be determined but we do know how much that winner will get, $8.94 million. Still not a bad paycheck for a few days of work. This years no limit Texas Hold’em main event will field a total of 7,319 players. That is the second best field to only the 8,773 taking a seat in 2006, the year Jamie Gold won $12 million. This year however is up over 12% from last years which equates to 825 more players in 2010.

    Brunson 10 Hopeful Dan Kelly Wins Bracelet

    Some say playing 6 handed NL hold’em takes the most guts and skill than any other poker game. Maybe that’s why many poker pros couldn’t wait to start the $25,000 6 Handed WSOP tournament. 191 players including some of the biggest names in the game sat down to win this prestigious bracelet and a piece of the $4,536,250 price pool. It was a rookie however; barely old enough to even get into the casino that took home the $1,338,609 first place price.

One down fall however it is is not available to players in the United States….yet.
