    New Secure Software for Online Poker Rooms

    Yesterday in a press release, Tokwiro Enterprises announced their new version of the Cereus software for Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet that uses the Open SSL encryption to secure all Client-Server communication. PokerTableRating, which brought the security issue to the attention of Tokwiro a few days ago, has also confirmed the SSL is operating as it should.

    22 Congressman Sign PPA Petition

    To a lot of online poker players, dark clouds are on the horizon as June 1st, the day the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act regulations go into effect, is fast approaching. The Poker Players Alliance is still fighting though and has petitioned the U.S. Treasury Department and Federal Reserve Board to clarify the definition of illegal gambling so that it does not include peer to peer games based on skill like poker.

    Big Money Swing for Patrik Antonius of Full Tilt Poker

    Let’s just do the math and see where it leads us. This time however, they didn’t send out scouts to the hottest poker places on earth, they looked to their followers and friends on Twitter and Facebook. Needless to say, this worked well.     David Williams Wins WPT World Championship

    Most of us will recall David Williams bursting on the scene in 2004 with his 2nd place win at the 35th World Series of Poker Event. He beat the likes of Josh Arieh, Dan Harrington and Marcel Luske but fell one short of eventual champion Greg Raymer.Eventually David Williams won his first WSOP bracelet in 2006. In the WPT arena his resume is just as good with two fourth place finishes and a second.

    Everest Poker To Sue Harrah’s Entertainment

    On April 1, Ultra Internet Media S.A. (UIM) filed a lawsuit against Harrah’s Entertainment Inc, in Las Vegas federal court. Harrah’s is the owner of the World Series of Poker (WSOP). The suit claims that UIM subsidiary Everest Poker and WSOP entered into a three year deal in 2008 making Everest Poker the on-felt sponsor for the WSOP tournament. UIM claims in the suit that the WSOP breached that contract.
