One of the largest and most trusted sports betting sites online, Bodog expanded into the Internet poker business in 2004. Unlike most poker rooms that struggle to build traffic when first launched, Bodog had plenty of action from day one with their sports betting clients crossing over to the poker room. This has the added benefit of creating softer competition than some rooms, as sports bettors on average are not great poker players.
There are plenty of games at most levels including the high stakes tables so you should always be able to find a game and limit to fit your needs. There are play money tables available to learn the software and micro limit tables when you are ready to try the real money games.
The lobby is designed to be user-friendly and is easy to use with tabs to choose between ring games and tournaments and is further broken down by holdem, Omaha and stud. The actual game software is plain looking but easy to use and uncluttered. The amount of the pot is clearly displayed at the top of the table and the action controls are in the center/bottom of the screen. They use a slider for the no-limit games to place bets that is one of the better working ones I have used. You may keep detailed notes on your opponents and there is a unique feature that allows you to see your statistics in real time in the lower left-hand corner of the screen while playing.
Limit holdem is offered with blinds from .05/.10 to 15/30, pot-limit holdem from .05/.10 to 1/2 and no-limit holdem with blinds from .05/.10 up to 5/10. Limit Omaha and Omaha/8 are offered from .25/.50 to 5/10 and in pot-limit from .10/.25 to .50/1. Stud is offered in 5-Card, 7-Card and 7-Card high/low with blinds from .25/.50 to 5/10. Like most rooms, the main games are limit and no-limit holdem, but the others run most of the time, especially at the lower limits.
Sit-n-go tournaments are available around the clock in no-limit holdem, pot-limit Omaha and pot-limit Omaha/8 with buy-ins from 4.40 to 215. They offer 2, 6 and 10 player tables.
Bodog runs an average of 30 multi-table tournaments every day with buy-ins ranging form .50 to 109. There is a $100,000 guarantee every Sunday, a $25,000 every Saturday, six $10,000, six $7,500, two $5,000 and fourteen $2,500 tournaments every week. Bodog also offers satellites to the World Series of Poker, World Poker Tour and other land-based tournaments throughout the year.
Overall, Bodog doesn't offer anything earth shattering or particularly special, but I still recommend trying their software as the competition is fairly soft, they have micro limit games and are run by one of the most trusted operations online.
