Net Entertainment has produced a number of different games with a wildly diverse number of themes. While they have produced titles based around big established brands like movies and television shows, where they really shine is coming up with their own themes that stand out from the "same old thing" that you see so often from software developers.

This is the case with the Alien Robots slot, which features a whole host of alien machines along with UFOs and other symbols.

Format Choices.

This game uses five reels with three rows, much like the overwhelming majority of video slots running today. However, it offers players a choice between two different formats when it comes to the lines. You can play for 30 coins with 30 paylines, or you can play with 60 coins with the 243-ways format.

This is a pretty atypical approach that we haven't really seen before. Our recommendation is to play with the 243-ways format since it seems like that will get players the most value from the way the bonus features work. However, when you're playing with 30 paylines, you get higher payouts for the high symbols, so there's a bit of a trade-off.

When it comes to bet sizes, you essentially have two variables to play with. The first is your coin size, and that starts off at $0.01 apiece. Coins go all the way up to $0.50 each, and this gives players a number of options for customizing their bet sizes. However, you can also bet as many as five coins for each payline, or up to five times 60 coins for the 243 ways format.

This makes the maximum bet size $150 per spin and the minimum bet size $0.60 per spin for the 243 ways format that we recommend. Obviously, this gives players plenty of room to pick and choose how much they want to wager.

The Main Symbols.

The high-end symbols for this game are five robots. They are most easily differentiated by color: red, orange, yellow, green and blue.

The red is the best-payline, and it gives 1,500x for five of a kind with the 243 ways format, but it gives a whooping 10,000x for five of a kind when you're playing with 30 paylines. Along similar lines, the orange will pay 1000x/5000x, the yellow pays 750x/3000x, the green gives 500x/1000x, and the blue pays 200x/500x.

On the low end, players will see the A, K, Q, J and 10 symbols that use the same color scheme with red, orange, yellow, green and blue. All symbols, both high and low, pay with three of a kind or more.

Scatters and Free Spins.

The scatter for this game is a bright UFO, and it helps to trigger free spins. You'll pick up 10, 20 or 50 free spins for landing three, four or five scatter symbols, respectively. If you get three or more scatters on the reels during your free spins, then you'll have more free spins added to your total to play through for that bonus feature.

There's no limit to the number of free spins you can be awarded at one time in the Alien Robots slot by re-triggering the feature.

Wild Symbol Features.

A special alien wild symbol shows up on the middle three reels only, and it gives you a chance to get more multi-line wins than you normally would. What's cool about this wild is that it gives you a bonus feature during the free spins.

Landing a wild during the free spins pays out normally, and then it will expand to give you a free re-spin where the other reels spin in place to give you a chance at more winnings. This adds a ton of value to the free spins bonus round and makes it much easier to land multi-line payouts, a big benefit to those using the 243-ways format.

Overview.

The choice between playing with 30 paylines and the 243-ways format is a key decision in this game because it will drastically affect your overall gameplay. The 243-ways format will give you a lower variance overall, but it does require a minimum bet size that's twice the minimum bet size for the 30-payline layout.

Overall, we suggest using the 243-ways format with the Alien Robots slot because of the lower volatility and extra value given during the free spins bonus feature with the expanded sticky wilds.

It's better to have a free re-spin with 243 ways activated than just 30 paylines, especially when there's an expanded wild held in place for you.
