Tanks and war have always been things that people have naturally been interested in, and the Tank Attack slot by GamingSoft takes this interest to a whole new level. This a progressive online slot with lots of different tanks and tank-related symbols from the World War II era, and it all happens on the backdrop of a battlefield with lots of tanks, explosions and rolling countryside in the background. Action is the name of the game in this particular title, so it's no surprise that it has a pretty high volatility, though the hit-rate as a whole is smoothed out a bit.

Slot Layout

The layout of this particular title has five reels and three rows. There are nine paylines, and they pay in both directions: left-to-right and right-to-left. You can start off with wagers at the $0.09 level per spin, and there are several other bet sizes in increments of nine that you can pick from. However, something you cannot do in this slot is change how many paylines you're betting with; those are set in stone, so to speak, but with bets that go down as low as they do in this game, but won't need to change them anyway.

Scattered Star Symbols

An important symbol in this game is the red star because it's a scatter symbol. On top of that, it's pretty easy to get scatter wins since you only need two of them on the game board to trigger a payout. You can take down 100 times your total bet if you get five, even if they're not on a payline. Likewise, the win for four of a kind is 10x, and it's 5x for three of a kind. You can even win a 1x payout for two of a kind, which is just like getting that particular spin for free.

Jackpot Tank Symbol

There's a tank symbol that's aiming three large missiles to the right-hand side of the screen. This is the jackpot symbol, and it's the key to getting to the bonus feature that gives you an opportunity to take down one of the four different progressive jackpots that this game has to offer. They only show up on the first, third and fifth reels, but getting all three on the reels at the same time will trigger the jackpot bonus feature.

Here's how this feature works. You'll be taken to a second screen with different enemy tanks on the reels. At the bottom will be the four jackpots listed with three checkboxes each. What you do is pick from the 12 tank symbols to decide which enemy tank you want to destroy. Each destroyed enemy tank will reveal one of the four jackpots, and that will give a tick mark to that particular prize. The first jackpot you win three tick marks for will be the one you're awarded.

It's important to note that you're guaranteed to win one of the four whenever you trigger this feature.

Other Symbols and Wins

Aside from the scatter and the progressives, there's also a wild tank symbol on a camo background that is a wild that substitutes for all of the non-scatter, non-jackpot symbols. Along these lines, five of the red tank pays 10,000x as the top static jackpot, and it gives you an award for one of a kind on any payline.

The orange tank pays 5,000x for five, and the bazooka with the green bomb pays 1,000x. The same 1,000x prize is yours for five of the pistol symbol as well. The green land mine pays 300x for five, and so does five of the green grenade. All of these five symbols pay out for two of a kind or more.

The bottom four symbols all pay for three of a kind or more on a payline. This includes 200x prizes for five of the gas tanks or iron crosses, and you'll earn 50x for five of the shells or cigarettes.

In Summary

With the Tank Attack slot by GamingSoft, everything centers around the four progressive jackpots. However, this game also has a higher hit-rate than you'd expect for a high-volatility slot because so many of its symbols pay for just one of a kind or two of a kind on a payline. The scatter is a good value as well for similar reasons. Overall, it's a pretty balanced jackpot-based game that centers around shooting for the biggest payouts, which is a popular style of gameplay that we think a lot of players will enjoy, but the graphics are a bit lackluster.
