The Witch's Brew online slot is a good example of Realtime Gaming basing a slot around the Halloween holiday. There are a ton of games about Halloween out there, and even more about various holidays in general, so it takes a lot to stand out from that particular crowd. While the graphics are solid, they do look a lot like some of the other Halloween-themed games we've seen in the genre, but where this game really stands out is in the features. You can get more free spins in this game than we've seen in any other holiday-themed title, and there are also multiple wild symbols that have different in-game functions as well.

Game Format

The format for this title is fairly standard, and you'll find that there are five reels with three rows and 25 paylines spread across them in this title. Realtime Gaming has added controls to this game to play with fewer than 25 paylines if you are so inclined, but we recommend that you keep it at 25 to maximize the RTP of the title. You choose from pre-determined bet sizes that start at $0.25 per spin and that go up to $6.25 per spin, which is as if you were betting $0.25 on each of the paylines. Divide your total bet by 25 to get your line bet like you would normally expect from other titles.

Wild Symbols

As we mentioned above, there are multiple wild symbols in this game, which is a somewhat atypical feature. The fang on the red background is one wild symbol, and the witch in the purple clothes over the cauldron is the other. The main difference between these symbols is that the witch is a 2x wild multiplier, and any winning combination that uses at least one of her (even if it also uses a fang) will get its prize doubled. This can lead to some serious increases in payout value, particularly for the higher end pays. These symbols only appear on the middle three reels.

The Wild Brew Feature

If you get three of the witch or three of the fang on the middle three reels, then you will be hit with a special re-spin feature. The reels with the wild symbols on them will hold into place, and the first and last reels will re-spin as many as 10 times, giving you payouts after each spin. This is a great bonus feature and a fun change to the normal free spins bonus round that we normally see in video slots these days.

Goblin Blood Feature

The vial of goblin blood shows up on all reels, and it's a scattered bonus symbol. At least two anywhere on the reels awards a win worth the size of your total bet for the spin. However, three, four or five on the reels pay 10, 25 or 125 free spins. All of your wins are hit with a 2x multiplier, and that combines with the witch wild multiplier for total multipliers of 4x when you get winning combinations with a witch during the free spins. Additionally, the wilds appear grouped on the reels to give you better chances for multi-line wins during this feature as well.

Top Prizes

The mandrake (root) symbol pays 2,500x for five of a kind, and that jumps up to 5,000x if a witch wild is included. You can also earn 1,000x (2,000x with a witch) for five of the wizard, and five of the black cat gives you 500x (1,000x with a witch). On the lower end of the scale, five of the frog or cauldron pays players 200x (400x with a multiplier), and five of the candle or skull/potions gets you 150x (300x with a wild witch). Finally, five of the books, grinder or eyeballs pays players a very solid 125x win, which jumps up to 250x with a multiplier.

Witch's Brew is a good example of Realtime Gaming using a theme that has been used several times before and turning it into a great experience with a combination of super solid gameplay and visually pleasing graphics. They have created a fun dynamic with the multiple wild symbols and the ability to win an overwhelming 125 free spins with a 2x multiplier on all of your wins, so players can really feel like they have a chance to win some spooky good payouts in this title.
