Close Quarters Conflict
(CQC)

Close Quarters Conflict (CQC) was first debuted to the online gaming community by SkillGround and has grown to be one of the most popular online video games around. Small governments and large international corporations have begun to rely on Private Military Corporations (PMCs) for all of their security needs as PMCs offer the flexibility, discretion and quality that these important firms and governments need.

Close Quarters Conflict

In CQC: Close Quarters Conflict, Lubriconn International, a large oil conglomerate, solicits the help of the PMC Darkrock Corporation in order to help release their oil crews which where held being held hostage by the Venezuelan government.  This set off a timeline of events that led to Darkrock Corporation’s eventual overthrow of the Venezuelan government and the country was left under the power of Lubriconn.  All of this resulted in Lubriconn’s domination of the global oil market until EurOil, the second largest international oil company solicits a PMC of it’s own.  Now Force Objective International, Darkrock’s number one competitor, is trying to regain control of the assets that Darkrock has seized for Lubriconn.  Darkrock Corporation and Force Objective International are now pitted against each other in squad combat around the world!

The objective of CQC: Close Quarters Conflict differs depending on the play mode.  If you are playing in Deathmatch mode with each man for himself then the objective is to score more frags than your opponents in the allotted time.  If there is a tie then the game goes into sudden death overtime and the first frag during overtime decides the winner.  If nobody scores in overtime then the person who scored the first frag in the game is the winner.

In Team Deathmatch, teams compete until the time or kill limit is reached.  The team with the most frags wins. Another team play mode that is available with CQC is Capture the Flag.  In CQC Capture the Flag mode players must locate the opposing team’s laptop computer, which has secret documents saved on it.  Then the computer must be brought back to your base.  Bringing this “flag” back will earn your team one capture point.

It is important that you learn the controls if you want to pay CQC: Close Quarters Conflict.  As this game is played on a computer, the traditional controller is replaced with keyboard and mouse controls.  You will find the controls for this game listed on the SkillGround website.  Be sure that you are familiar with them before you start playing the game.  Playing in practice mode can help you familiarize yourself with the controls.

Close Quarters Conflict

When you are playing CQC you will have to choose a class.  The characters in this game fall into six different classes—Assault class, support class, sniper, recon, demolition and medic.  Each class has different weapons, armor, health and other features.  If you are playing in a team setting it is important that the players on your team make up an array of classes as teamwork is the best way to win the game.  If you are playing in a 1 vs. 1 setting then the player that challenges you will set the class.  In 1 vs. 1 play mode both players must be the same class in order to make the game as fair as possible.  If you think that it’s unfair that your opponent gets to choose the class just remember that you will choose the class whenever you challenge another player to a one on one match.  In order to choose your class you must select the drop down menu in the CQC section of “My Profile” in “My Account”.  Remember to save your preferences.  Your class can also be changed in the game lobby from the “My Game Status” dialog.  Don’t forget to always save your preferences when you change something.  Playing a 1 vs. 1 game as a different class won’t change your preferred class.  The change will last only for this game.

There are also a variety of maps available to play on in CQC: Close Quarters Conflict.  In deathmatch games you may play in a Soviet-era communications station, along London rooftops or in a chemical weapons plant.  Capture the flag may be played along the alpine border or in customs.  With this variety of maps, you’ll never get bored!

There are also a variety of weapons available for use.  Each class gets its own specific weapons, so you should look into this before you choose a class.  If there are certain weapons that you prefer to use, you may want to choose a class that utilizes these weapons.  Keep in mind that you don’t have to commit to one class forever so feel free to try them all out and see which weapons you like best.

There is a display on the screen that tells you all of the pertinent information.  This heads up display will let you know about your health, the amount of body armor that the player has remaining, the number of ammo rounds that are loaded and how much ammo remains, where a player’s weapon is being aimed, the direction from which damage is being received and the amount of time remaining in a match or mission.  There is also the option of a mini map that shows where enemy targets and friendly forces are located.

Now that you understand the basics of CQC: Close Quarters Conflict you are ready to play.  Just register with SkillGround, install the game, choose your class and game mode and you’re ready to start playing the game!
