L.A. Street Racing

Race through the streets of Los Angeles in the hot ride of your choice with L.A. Street Racing. Put the pedal to the metal and win the game. Play against the computer or against real opponents. With L.A. Street Racing there is no first or second place, only the winner and all of the losers, so get ready to give it your all!

L.A. Street Racing

The objective of this game is simple; win the race. The first player to finish the race wins. Race time is limited and if no players finish the player who is closest to the finish line wins.

If you want to start playing this hard core racing game at SkillGround then you'll have to learn the controls. As this game is played on a computer, the traditional video game controller has been replaced with keyboard and mouse controls. Luckily, the controls for this game are really easy to learn. Press the up arrow key to accelerate and the down arrow to brake. Once your car is fully stopped the down arrow will also move your car backwards. Turn left and right with the left and right arrow keys. If you are playing on manual (you have the option to play manual or automatic) then the A-key shifts gears up and the Z-key shifts down. If you crash your car, pressing the R-key will repair your car and put you back on the road facing the right direction. Each car also is equipped with nitrous oxide that you can use by pressing the N-key. In an extremely close race, press the Tab-key in order to see a rearview mirror view of your opponent. There are several more controls which can be easily found on the SkillGround website when you decide to start playing the game. Be sure to familiarize yourself with these controls before you begin.

Most people prefer to play with automatic transition, however there are many people who also like to play in manual mode. They feel that playing in manual mode adds a lot more challenge to the game. You may switch from automatic to manual and back again in the LASR preferences located in your start menu. Go from "Start Menu", to "SkillGround", to "Game Settings" and then to "L.A. Street Racing". There is a section here for "Game" which will allow you to choose your transmission.

Once you understand the controls you'll have to choose a car. You have a bunch of cars to choose from, all are high performance cars with the form and attitude to match. They are all programmed to be balanced for overall performance but each still handles differently from the rest. You may have to try out a few versions until you find the best car for you.

Next, you will have to choose a track. All tracks are streets around the Los Angeles area; Ventura Boulevard, Grand Avenue, Palos Verdes and more. There is no place like L.A. for an exciting game of street racing. Each track contains different obstacles, turns and surprises so give them all a try!

Once you have chosen a car and track it's time to start playing. The heads up display on your computer screen will keep you updated. The tachometer will tell you your current motor RPMs, the speedometer will tell you your current speed, your current gear is also displayed which is incredibly important if you are playing in manual mode, the number of laps are displayed as well as the time for your last lap and the time of the best laps. Finally, the status of your car is displayed on the screen and shows the current status of your car and the location of damage, if your car has sustained damage. If your car is extremely damaged it can be helpful to press the R-key to repair your car. This takes a few seconds but a damaged car can slow you down enough that it is worth the couple of seconds it takes to repair it.

While you are playing you can switch between game views by pressing your F-keys, F1 through F9, until you find one that feels comfortable for you. You will also have to get used to using the controls to your advantage, particularly on turns. Try in practice mode first with different techniques. See how tapping the arrow keys on turns is more effective than holding them down and how you should measure your combination of accelerating and breaking in turns. Once you have mastered the controls you are ready to take on the world in L.A. Street Racing on SkillGround.

There are several play modes for L.A. Street Racing. If you want to play a single player game you may play against the computer in a Score Based game for the best time against up to ten other entrants who are also playing against the computer. You may also play in a progressive tournament with an unlimited number of players competing for a top score to win a prize that grows larger as the number of entrants grows. If you want to play a multiplayer game you have the option of going head to head in a 1 vs. 1 match or in a Free For All where up to eight players can race each other.

Now that you understand how to begin playing L.A. Street Racing,
