Welcome Golf fans and golfers to the new age golfing experience at Ultimate Tour Golf brought to you by Skillground. Embark on one of five luxurious and most sought after golf courses, where every tee-off will give you another notch towards honing your golf skills, with a little combination of hand and eye coordination. Before too long you will be playing like the Pros, on challenging courses that have been prepared and groomed to the highest standards for your golfing enjoyment.

Just like most of the professional games being played on computers in this new era, playing Ultimate Tour Golf will hone your golf skills, and with patients and practice, you will be collecting the cash and moving up in the ranks the same way the professionals do in real golf. There are some great cash prizes available to the best golfers in Ultimate Tour Golf, so you better get in there and get started on your golf skills, where you can get a piece of the action.
Before you get to far ahead in your thinking, you will need to learn the basics on how to play this skill game of Ultimate Tour Golf.
Starting out in Ultimate Tour Golf is basically easy; use either the keyboard or the mouse on your personal computer, select the proper club, select the shot-type that you think will work best, aim in the direction you would like the golf ball to travel, and then swing. It is so close to playing in the real world that you may even get addicted to it.
The basis of the swing control system that controls how accurate and how hard you strike the ball is with a three-click power bar. Once you have mastered the timing, you are well on your way towards moving up the ranks in Ultimate Tour Golf.
After you have learned the basics in accuracy and power in your swing, it is time to put it to the test. You can play by yourself, but there is not much money to be gained there unless you are just out for more practicing, or play a one on one game. If you get good enough at your golfing skills, you can join in on one of the cash tournaments.
After starting your golf game in Ultimate Tour Golf, penalty strokes for water hazards or going out of bounds are adhered to in the standard golf rules. To keep the game moving along there is a timer set into the game, in the game options, that ticks down for each shot. So, do not get stuck holding your club when the timer runs out, or you will suffer a penalty stroke.

While playing Ultimate Tour Golf there is a standard series of one to four player game types that the scoring is based on, and they are; Match Play, Stroke Play and Stableford Plus. The break-down of these game types are as follows:
Match Play:
Match Play is a one on one or two players only game in Ultimate Tour Golf. Each hole played is split, like a mini-match game for each hole. The hole is won by the player who sinks his ball in the fewest strokes, unless both players play the same amount of strokes and then the hole is considered halved. The state of the match is measure by "holes up" or "holes down" by the holes won or lost, and if neither player is in the lead at that time, they may be considered "All Square".
Holes finish automatically if it is mathematically certain that one of the golfers has won. The same goes for the round of golf also, where if it is mathematically impossible for the "holes down" player to catch up in the remaining holes, thus the round ends declaring the winner. But, if the match should end and still be halved or "All Square", the player with the shortest amount of time in that round will be declared the winner.
Stroke Play:
At Ultimate Tour Golf, Stroke Play is played the same as most professional tournaments and is considered the most common in golf competitions. Every golfer is competing over a set number of holes and the player with the fewest number of strokes wins the round. If there should happen to be a draw in this round, where one or more players are "All Square", the player with the quickest time in this round is declared the winner.
Stableford Plus:
Stableford Plus is a round of golf that is an upgraded version of the popular Stableford set of golf rules. Depending on their stroke count, golfers are awarded points for each hole, with several additional ways to score as shown below:
Standard Scoring:
- 5 Points; Double Eagle
- 4 Points; Eagle
- 3 Points; Birdie
- 2 Points; Par
- 1 Point; Bogey
Additional Points:
- 1 Point; Woodies; Making par after hitting at least one tree
- 1 Point; Sandies; Making par after being in at least one bunker
- 1 Point; Par 3; The nearest approach on every par three
- 1 Point; Par 5; The longest drive made by a golfer on every par five
Every player will be given a breakdown of his/her score for every hole, once they have holed out, at Ultimate Tour Golf.
Trick Shots or Adding Shape to a Shot:
The HUD, heads-up-display, has a shot-shape menu giving you the option to set up your shot to backspin, draw or fade. You can select this option on the HUD or press the Control key on the keyboard to open it up. Use the right or left on-screen arrows, or use your right or left arrow keys on the keyboard, to add backspin and by bending the arrow to draw or fade your shot. But, be careful with these trick shots, they will cause the error zones to shrink on the Power Meter and also slightly reduce the travel distance of your ball with the backspins, draws or fades.
